Demo Day – Businesses Showcase Their Innovative Products & Services

What do a space rocket launch system, a live video subtitle app for the hard of hearing and accessible kitchen furniture products that incorporate the latest AI technology all have in common? They’re all businesses that we have supported through our latest Fellowship Accelerator Programme!

The ten week programme culminated in Demo Day on 6th November where eight new start-ups presented to business support partners, funding managers, investors, Local Authorities, University Research Institutes and businesses in the wider DigitalCity Cluster.

There was lots of excitement and interest in the innovative products and services being demonstrated at the event. This has led to conversations around further investment, funding and collaborative opportunities with DigitalCity’s stakeholder partners.

DigitalCity Cluster Innovation Manager Scott Watson said: “We supported eight fantastic businesses during this round of the Programme. Once again, the talent and skills in the Tees Valley for creating digital solutions to wider industry problems shone through. We believe that a lot of these businesses are going places. We’re delighted to have supported them at the beginning of their business journey and look forward to monitoring their progress.”

The businesses presenting were:

Admit me – A price comparison site and search engine for entertainment and sports event experiences.

Desifa – Developing the ‘HEARCLEAR’ app which provides live subtitles for internet video calls.

Ghost Innovations – A mobile app that enables people who have a terminal illness to create and schedule messages to loved ones posthumously.

Gigrep – A marketplace platform where live music event organisers find bands and performers.

Morgan Access – Developing a portfolio of high quality ‘universal’ products for the home that use the latest AI and voice controlled technology.

Project Escape – Offering live ‘escape the room’ experiences to groups and developing its own technology and IP.

Silver Lining Animation – A 2D animation studio specialising in producing highly creative promotional content for the industrial and educational sectors.

Stratobooster – A space launch system that launches small satellites in to low earth orbit.

The Guest Speaker at the event was digital entrepreneur Tom Howsam – a Teesside University graduate who has founded several successful tech companies and is in the process of launching his latest venture ‘Paid’.
