DigitalCity launches SCALE 2020 programme

DigitalCity kick-started it’s fourth SCALE programme last week with a fantastic launch at the Teesside University’s Darlington Campus.

More than 40 people came together to celebrate the start of the next programme, including the new cohort, SCALE alumni and digital representatives including the SME Centre of Excellence and Silbo.

After an informal networking opportunity, attendees heard from guest speaker, Lorna Dunning – a Personal Development Leader and former Vice President of Transformation at American Express. She shared some inspiring tips around setting goals that excite you and how we have the power to change our subconscious minds when they try to tell us such goals are unachievable.

The second keynote was delivered by Managing Director of Bondgate IT, Garry Brown – one of the first business leaders to take part in the initial programme back in 2017. He described how SCALE has not only moved his business forward, but has completely changed his mind-set, both professionally and personally.

Garry mentioned: “Running a business by yourself can be quite lonely sometimes and SCALE really helped me to understand just how powerful the whole peer part of life really is. Helping others actually allows you to help yourself.”

The ERDF funded programme supports digital business owners who are certain that they have large potential for growth, yet unsure of how to exploit opportunities presented to them.

An exciting cohort of thirteen digital business leaders will join DigitalCity for the next SCALE programme with the first workshop taking place on the 23rd April. They include:

  • Agile Group Ltd – IT and Communications Specialists
  • Cocoon & Bauer Ltd – Commercial Interior Design Company
  • Colehouse Communications – Digital Marketing Services
  • Florisoft Ltd- Software Development for Florists
  • Vintage Financial Planning – Independent Financial Planning Firm
  • JMH Holdings – IT Security Specialists
  • Phavour Ltd – Data Processing
  • Radical Forge Ltd – Software Development
  • Ryze Agency Ltd – IT Consultancy Services
  • Wander Films – Videographers
  • Nicander – Software Development
  • Go Roar – Travel App
  • Tascomp Limited – Industrial Computer Software Developers

Over a course of eight weeks, the businesses will participate in several action-focused workshops centred on the five pillars of scaling and increasing the profitability of their business. Industry experts and inspirational business leaders will join them to share their knowledge, ideas and experiences of scaling up.

Following each workshop, the businesses will receive a dedicated business mentor to help formulate a bespoke action plan – equipping them with everything they need to turn their aspirations into reality.

David Dixon, of DigitalCity said, “We are delighted to welcome our fourth cohort to the SCALE programme. The launch event has been a great opportunity for the group to network with like-minded individuals, hear first-hand about the enormous benefits SCALE has had for our alumni and learn from guest speakers that could add real value to their business.”
