Fast-growing technology company creates £450k worth of job opportunities

A Tees Valley technology firm, founded with support from DigitalCity, has announced exciting expansion plans with over half a dozen new remote job opportunities.

Darlington-based Paid has created the new jobs to shape and polish its software platform to perfection. The vacancies include highly skilled digital roles as Software Engineers, Product Managers and Product Designers, as well as wider positions in customer support and operations and finance.

Paid is a software platform that provides a simple, productive solution for both buyers and suppliers. Their software enables forward-thinking enterprises to gain agility and innovation capability whilst giving suppliers greater economic strength and access to wider business opportunities. With a robust supplier management system, automated invoice matching and an instant, secure payment process, it supercharges the way businesses work together.

Since its launch in 2019, the organisation has proven to be a huge hit with several SMEs across the UK and now has some larger, well-known companies in the pipeline. Paid has also been recognised for its potential and was part of Barclays Techstars London 2019 and the Tech Nation Fintech 2.0 programme.

With first-hand experience of the challenges, especially payment, that both buyers and suppliers encounter, founder Tom Howsam, a graduate of Teesside University, set up Paid with an aim to financially empower businesses of all sizes to work together.

Throughout his entrepreneurial journey, Tom has worked closely with the Teesside University-led initiative, DigitalCity, from getting start-up support and growth advice to strengthening the security of the platform.

Tom said “DigitalCity has been a great supporter of myself and Paid from the very start. It’s a pleasure to be able to work with the team as an alumnus of various programmes.

“I feel like we’ve built up a relationship over the past 15 years and DigitalCity is a trusted friend who wants the best for all Tees digital businesses.”

David Dixon of DigitalCity adds, “Tom is one of the great ambassadors for our digital cluster as well as the wider Tees Valley business community.”

“It is a total testament to his character that he is so determined and committed to create as many highly skilled digital roles as is possible right here in our backyard.”

“Tom has made the deliberate choice to support his local area with some extremely exciting roles and the best thing is that this is just the beginning. DigitalCity is both proud and delighted to be supporting him and his team.”
