Fellowship Accelerator Demo Day

This week’s Demo Day highlighted the diversity of the businesses and sectors DigitalCity supports through its Fellowship Accelerator Programme.

The seven businesses presenting were made up of a social enterprise games studio, a vlogging platform and companies supporting English revision and men’s mental health needs through highly innovative digital platforms. Heavy industry also featured with drone, freight and web technology businesses explaining how their digital solutions were helping to innovate the more traditional industries on Teesside.

The packed audience was made up of key Tees Valley stakeholders such as investors, funders, Local Authorities and potential partners who could support the Fellows on the next steps of their business journey.

Dominic Lusardi, MD of Animmersion – himself a former DigitalCity Fellow – closed the event with a superb presentation that traced his steps from graduating at Teesside University through to leading an internationally renowned 3D Animation, Data Visualisation and Interactive solutions business in Middlesbrough.

Scott Watson, DigitalCity Cluster Innovation Manager said: “Demo Day marks the end of ten week’s hard work that our Fellows have put in to their new businesses. We love supporting digital start-up companies, particularly those that are developing an innovative new product or service or are involved in transforming traditional sectors with their digital skills and knowledge.”

The Fellowship Accelerator is a ten week ERDF funded project that offers a workshop programme, bespoke mentoring and a start-up grant of up to £5,000.
